MVP: When stuff gets messed up, we need to pause our projects

This past week I’ve been finishing up some trim work in our house. 

To avoid the trip to my shop every time I wanted to make a cut, I set my miter saw up on our deck. I put up a big 12x12 canopy as we have had rain.

Off and on over the past week I had been working away and on Sunday I planned to put the final pieces in place.

I woke up Sunday morning to the sight in the photo. A big wind storm had wreaked havoc on my canopy. More rain was coming and I really wanted to finish the trim, but with no canopy, the wood would get damaged if I tried to cut outside.

So, Pam and I assessed the damage and righted the canopy.

​When the rain came, I was able to keep working and finish the project!

Last week we looked at turbulence, and how to lead in an organization that is being hammered by storms.

One thing to remember is that making change is hard and dangerous when the canopy has been blown off. Sometimes we need to pause the initiatives and get things covered.
