Colleagues,
MVP: Step 1: escape urgency, step 2: build relationships, step 3: be the person others want to come see Today’s podcast episode features part 2 of my interview with Dr. Jan Osborn. At the end of the interview, I asked Jan what part of his leadership he was trying to get better at and he said: “The goal for me is not to be a leader. My goal is to be a good person, a good educator, and a good friend. I just want to be that person that people want to come see.” The challenge is that you can’t be that person people want to come see if you can’t ever get out to see them! It is all about relationships and relationships reflect how we invest time in being present with others. Next week each morning of the daily email (and a special Sunday edition) will feature a small, simple challenge to help you become more strategic. On Thursday, March 2, I will host a free webinar to help “sell” you on the idea that you can and should act now to become a more strategic leader. Block the time in your calendar now (7-8 pm EST). Early bird registration opens today and runs until 5:00 pm (EST) this Friday. The cost is free but registering helps me plan by knowing about how many people to expect. Growing your ability to mentor others requires intention, which is in short supply for urgent leaders. Today’s intention(s):
Cheers! Frederick
