Replacing the to-do list

Colleagues,

Happy Tax Day! Oh wait, that’s in May this year. I can hardly wait =;^}

Yesterday I tried to convince you to get rid of your to-do list. Of course, it isn’t as simple as that as we still need to have something to help focus us. While I usually strive for simplicity, in this case I suggest replacing the daily to-do list with two lists:
  1. The win list, which consists of only 1-3 things that must get done. The must isn’t because they are urgent, it is because they are important. In fact, at least one of your win items should be from quadrant 2.

  1. The task list, a running (not daily) list of all the things that need to get done. You could structure this list based on the four quadrants so that you are automatically prioritizing as things go onto the list. This will help you be much more intentional about how you invest your time.

Do good and be well,

Frederick
