Does it matter how much it is raining?

Yesterday, I shared four options for working in the rain and suggested that the best option was dependent on your specific context.
 
One way to understand context is to look at my friend Dr. Steve Gross’s turbulence model. Inspired by aeronautics, Steve identified four patterns of turbulence in organizations:

Using turbulence theory as a lens for yesterday’s four options of working when it is raining:

1. In light turbulence, we can keep working in the rain.
2. In moderate turbulence, we need to cover the worksite and slow down.
3. In severe turbulence, only small amounts of change are possible.
4. In extreme situations, we need to be focusing our efforts on other things.

 
Understanding the degree of turbulence in your organization can help you make wiser decisions.
