I’ve been working on the website and ran into some issues. After too many failures I contacted tech support via chat. It took about 30 minutes to fix the problem. Most of the time I was just waiting for the tech person to do something.
 
During those 30 minutes I tried to take care of some other things, but I had to keep checking the chat box to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
 
It was so hard to focus and to keep going back and forth. Not only was I incredibly unproductive, but I was exhausted by the time we finished.
 
The price of trying to multi-task is not just the inefficiency during the time you are multitasking, it is also the fatigue that can affect you for hours afterwards.
 
Ironically, the only thing I really was able to complete was this email and that is because writing the email and experiencing the event were so congruent.
