MVP: To get the best answer you need to ask the best questions

Two weeks ago, I asked for feedback about taking on a sponsor for the podcast.

You all were very supportive of doing it and I thank you.

However, one person responded differently than anyone else. My good friend Joe Waldrum asked these questions:

1. Will it add value to your podcast? It does add economic value to you, but will listeners gain value from it…meaning will what they are selling provide value to the listeners?
2. Will you be giving up any control of the content of your podcast?
3. Do you need the additional income?
4. How much more of a headache is it to add the advertisement?
5. Do you have to change your format?
6. How much more work is it for you to add in the advertisement?
7. What is the expectation/benefit of the advertiser? Will the patron's information of your podcast be relayed to the advertiser?
   
   

He reminded me, when faced with a possibility, the question isn’t “can we do this?” It is “what else could we do if we didn’t do this?”

Today’s intention: Just play with these questions… “If I wasn’t doing x right now, what could I be doing instead?”
