Accessing Professional Development Funds

Many districts are happy to support external professional development activities for assistant principals. This guide is a WIP (work in progress) as the requirements among districts varies.

How does applying for district funds work?
The first step is to ask. You may use the letter below as an outline. The district investment is $500 for the five-week course. For that investment, districts can expect:
  • You will learn to build supports that increase organizational capacity to manage tasks
  • You will be able to empower teachers to solve their own problems
  • You will be able to develop more reflective teachers
  • You will improve your instructional leadership

If you receive a positive response, use the letter below as a template or guide for making your official request. In some cases, actual payment may not occur until after the cohort has started. If funding is approved but not available until after the cohort has begun, please email me at frederick@frederickbuskey.com to work out details.

Professional Development Hours
Most states require some form of recertification credits. Below are the estimated actual hours for the program. This is an estimate and each participant’s actual time will vary. We will be happy to sign off on hourly credits if that is required.
