Hi! My name is Gina Stevenson and I am an Assistant Principal at the Lexington 4 Early Childhood Center, located in Swansea SC. This is my 17th year as an AP. Throughout my time as an Assistant Principal, I have engaged in a variety of professional development through a variety of formats. Dr. Buskey’s course was a great mixture of timely and relevant content, a delivery that suited my needs as a learner and a chance to network with other assistant principals throughout the state. I highly recommend Dr. Buskey’s 5 stages for improving your day-to-day leadership in small, manageable steps. Throughout the 6 weeks, I was able to spend more time being intentional about the teachers that I serve through active listening, 5-minute coaching conversations, and building relationships. I was able to apply Dr. Buskey’s core principle of putting People Before tasks into daily action. I enjoyed this time examining my own strengths and weaknesses as a leader and would highly recommend this process for other assistant principals, regardless of your years of experience. |
