Are you burned out on BIG change?

As complex as schools are, there are always things needing fixed, improved, or even replaced. The instinct of many of us is to come up with big ideas and enact bold changes - something I refer to as BIG Change. You've been through it, probably multiple times. The opening hoopla and trainings, the talk, the check ins, and then... it fades away.

There are many reasons BIG Change fails (image). Fortunately, there is an alternative - Strategic Action Cycles, or SACs.

Strategic Action Cycles focus on making incremental improvements immediately. Simple actions to make life better right now.

The success of Strategic Action Cycles lies in their emphasis on addressing root problems. Too often, we treat symptoms, so improvements are temporary because the underlying causes remain unchanged. Strategic Action Cycles address this through a structured process of getting past symptoms to identify root problems.

If you want to make things better right now...

Strategic Action Cycles are a great process to use! And you can get all the resources for free!

From April 21 - May 5, The Assistant Principal Podcast features three episodes on Strategic Action Cycles.
  • Episode 301: I describe the underlying principles that make the SAC process so effective - the four principles of leverage.
  • Episode 302: I describe each step of the SAC process and provide specific examples.
  • Episode 303: I interview Dr. Robert Maddox, who talks about how Strategic Action Cycles impacted his district.
Episode 301:
Principles of SAC
Episode 302:
SAC Process
Episode 303:
SAC Impact
There is also a free guide. It's been repurposed from a previous course I developed on Strategic Leadership, so it is an MVP (minimally viable product) but fully capable of helping you navigate the process, especially with the support of the podcast episodes. Need extra support for complex issues?

Some issues are very complex and getting to why can be tricky. Things like...
  • Why do we have so many discipline problems?
  • Why don't we have more engaged learning?
  • Why can't we get into classrooms to grow our teachers?

Instead of spending tens of thousands of dollars and chewing up time and attention, you might want to invest your resources in having me come to you to help get to why and teach you the SAC process. At $17,000 this is not a cheap investment, but it is an investment, not an expense, because you will learn the process that will reshape how you approach change in a way that endures long after I am gone.

The Strategic Action Cycle training includes:
  • A 45-minute face-to-face pre-training meeting with each team (up to five teams)
  • A full day training on the SAC process, including hands on work focused on your most pressing issues
  • A half-day workshop developing action plans for the issue

The podcasts and free guide are enough to get you started, but a live facilitation will accelerate and refine your ability to uncover root issues and begin to make immediate incremental improvements.

Please be aware that I only have four slots available to join you:
  1. June 15-17
  2. July 6-10
  3. July 13-16
  4. August 25-28
