They didn’t teach me that in admin school!
Kelli was a young and enthusiastic assistant principal, but she was at her wits end. Each day she seemed to receive more discipline referrals than the day before. Her days were spiraling out of control as she ran from one fire to the next, and her goal of getting into classrooms and supporting teachers was slipping away.
Don’t be like Kelli!
APEx Mentoring helps first and second-year assistant principals progress from the urgent to the strategic so they can invest time preventing fires instead of spending time putting them out!

Pricing
An individual membership in APEx Mentoring is $69/month.
We know times are challenging right now. We chose the $69 amount because it helps us keep operating and should be affordable for most people. That said, if you are trying to raise four kids on a teacher's salary (been there), and $69 will break you budget, email me and we will work something out.

Who is Dr. Frederick Buskey?
My mission is to help busy leaders learn to act strategically each day. I have been a teacher, coach, and change agent for over 30 years. Most recently, I invested 13 years developing and coordinating training programs for aspiring school leaders at Clemson University (2013-2019) and Western Carolina University (2006-2013). At both schools, I led innovative redesigns of old programs. During this time, I’ve written extensively on leadership development, ethics, and the dark side of leadership, in both scholarly and practitioner journals. My unique blend of scholarly training (EdD in Organizational Leadership from Bowling Green State University), athletic coaching, P-12 teaching and administration (17 years), and public and private sector leadership development (20+ years) provide me with multiple perspectives and insight into the fundamental truths of leadership.

I provide simple frameworks and tools to help school leaders spend less time putting out fires and invest more time in growing teachers. I also host The Assistant Principal Podcast, write a daily leadership email, and support assistant principals through APEx, an online group coaching and learning community. Read more about me on my website and connect with me on LinkedIn.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from other induction programs?
Every school is different. Every leader is different. APEx mentoring provides individualized support in a small group setting. We begin with relationships and combine content with connection to provide a unique and powerful professional development experience tailored to the needs of individuals.
Will this just add to the busyness of being a new AP?
No! Everything we do is designed to fit within the limitation and demands of a practicing AP. The time you invest with your mentors will ultimately save you time.
How will I find time to do the homework?
There is no homework. There will always be rich content for you to work with when it suits your needs, but there is never any homework - just support for applying what you learn to your work, so your life and leadership can be better.
My schedule is crazy, how can I attend meetings?
APs can connect through the methods that work for them, including Zoom, discussion boards, and email. Most of our meetings are recorded, so there are plenty of ways to work around your schedule.

What about results?
I highly recommend Dr. Buskey’s 5 stages for improving your day-to-day leadership in small, manageable steps… I was able to spend more time being intentional about the teachers that I serve through active listening, 5-minute coaching conversations, and building relationships. I was able to apply Dr. Buskey’s core principle of putting people before tasks into daily action. Gina Stevenson, AP, Early Childhood Center, Lexington4, SC |
What sets Dr. Buskey apart from other leaders and consultants is his heart. His genuine care for both the leader and the students and teachers they serve is infused in every interaction and you can always trust that his guidance holds your well-being and your students' best interests at its core.
