Colleagues,
MVP: Attention is the most precious resource I walked into Maggie’s house and she immediately stopped, turned, gave a huge smile, and said, “Why Frederick, I’m so glad you are here!” Maggie, my mother-in-law, passed away in 2020 but I can still hear her. She always made me feel special when I walked through her door. … Being physically there is only half of being fully present. The second part of being fully present is being mentally there. I think this is the hardest part. It’s easy to fake presence by showing up physically, but not being fully focused. Let’s be real though – the only person we are fooling is ourselves! Think about the last time you needed to have an important conversation with someone and they were only halfway paying attention. We all know what that looks like. We all know what that feels like. And it isn’t a good feeling. Make the world stop. Make that person feel like they are the most important person in your life. Because… At that moment… They are. Cheers! Frederick
