Lately we have been interacting with unhoused people. Through unique circumstances, we received a story from a man named Patrick. It appears below, but here’s the point: every person has a story. We cannot understand people’s circumstances or situations without understanding their stories. So, let’s not judge, look down on, or dismiss people because they aren’t living life the way we think they should. There is a story.

There was once a child who cried incessantly, so much so that no one no longer cared. Eventually the child stopped crying and there was still no one who cared. When the child was happy, angry, sad, no one cared. This is life… you asked for a joke and that is the joke… life. It is funniest when it is worst and most boring at its best. And throughout it all, nobody will come. Life can be great and horrible at the same time. It is all temporary. Take care of the present moment. —Patrick
