This one is easy to overlook. Safety is not just needed for innovation, but also for basic growth. To grow, we need to try new things, and that involves risk.

When people don’t feel safe, they don’t take risks.

How can we foster psychological safety?

• Let people know you value them for who they are, not just what they produce
• Celebrate trying new things, even if they fail
• Advocate for using failure as feedback – failure is simply information to help us think about a new direction.

Being vulnerable: I’m struggling to come up with fresh ideas for the daily email, so I asked ClaudeAI to generate a list of the 25 key actions for leadership. I will use ClaudeAI’s words for the MVP and everything else will be my take on the idea. I’ll cover the top ten over the next few weeks. Counting down backward of course!
