Read this if you may suffer from martyr syndrome

Colleagues,

One of the things I tackled in yesterday’s podcast was martyr syndrome.

To be honest, I did not take a nuanced approach, choosing instead to be brutally blunt.

You may be a martyr if…

• You think your organization will fall apart without you (it won’t)
• You can’t possibly do less than your best, even on tasks that don’t deserve it
• You must respond to everything before you can end the day
• After 3:30, you spend more time thinking about work than you do investing time with the people you love (ouch)

I probably missed some things here, so feel free to correct me. The main point is that we need to examine how we view ourselves in relation to our work and our families.
