MVP: Be intentional about sharing vulnerability

“Ugh, I’m just not feeling good today.”

When is it okay for a leader to admit to not being at the top of their game?

As I write, I just finished recording a podcast, and, honestly, I don’t feel I’m at the top of my game today. But, if I had led with that and shared at the beginning of the interview, how might that have affected the interview?

Would they have felt deflated and lost a bit of energy?

Would they feel inspired and stepped up with some extra juice?

Here’s the point: It is okay to be vulnerable and there are times when it is good to be vulnerable. There are also times we need to project strength and safety (being the lighthouse). So, be intentional in deciding when and when not to share how you are doing.
