Colleagues, MVP: Higher effort, without increased value, lowers motivation. Motivation equals value divided by effort (M=V/E) This weekend I began putting string around our four rows of raspberries to help keep them confined. I thought it would be easy and was motivated by the thought of easy fruit picking in July. However, my gloves weren’t protecting me from the thorns, there were sticks, raspberry creepers, and leaves all over. Then it began raining and the hill became slippery. I went inside. Why did I give up? The value of easy picking in July did not change. The effort rose dramatically. Same value, divided by bigger effort equaled lower motivation. You can dig deeper into M-V/E on today’s episode of The Assistant Principal Podcast! Thanks again to IXL for sponsoring today’s episode. Cheers!
