Colleagues,
MVP: The teacher evaluation process is broken, so don’t pretend it isn’t. This week’s episode of The Assistant Principal Podcast came out late, but I think it was worth the wait. In it, I answer a question about how a new school administrator can evaluate veteran teachers. Short answer: Unless you are planning to fire someone, the teacher evaluation process is counterproductive because it is divorced from any meaningful work related to teacher professional development. If you are a teacher who has ever been formally evaluated, I dare you to disagree with me. This thesis holds for most organizations in any sector. If I have piqued your interest, listen to the episode! Thanks again to IXL for sponsoring today’s episode. Cheers! Frederick
