MVP: In general, people you lead know more about their work than you do. On a long drive last weekend I listened to a podcast (link) on combating cynicism. The guest was Dr. Jamil Zaki, Director of the Stanford Social Neuroscience Lab. There were a couple big takeaways:
These takeaways reinforce an idea I cannot let go of. As leaders, we need to assume that people in our organization know what they are doing and want to do a good job. And… Those people know more about what they need than we do. Intention: If a person you are trying to grow already knows more about their job than you do, how do you help them grow? Cheers! Frederick
