Colleagues,
This week I’m playing with the idea of writing a very short and practical guide to reflective coaching. At the end of the week, I will ask for feedback. MVP: The foundation of reflective coaching is showing up – fully. Chapter 1: Showing up
This morning’s episode of The Assistant Principal Podcast is somewhat related to today's post. My AP friend Alex Auriemma and I dig into the growth mindset. Thanks again to IXL for sponsoring today’s episode. Cheers! Frederick Colleagues,
This week I’m playing with the idea of writing a very short and practical guide to reflective coaching. At the end of the week, I will ask for feedback. MVP: Simple and consistent beats sporadic and nuanced. Introduction Barriers to coaching are time, technique, and preparation - all of which can be in short supply. By developing basic skills for reflective coaching, leaders can consistently help people grow without needing to prepare ahead of time. Coaching can just be part of what the leader does day-to-day, happening multiple times without premeditation. And reflective coaching over time will help create a culture where questions are routinely asked and valued, and where people expect to become better over time. How cool is that?" Cheers! Frederick Colleagues,
MVP: In order to grow, you need to reflect. I’m writing this in the morning before I do our third and final Now + Next training with our leaders in Cohort 7. Our final lesson will be on scheduling time for reflection. All October we focused on how you can help others reflect, but what about you? When do you reflect? And if you don’t regularly reflect on your practice, how do you grow? Cheers! Frederick Colleagues,
MVP: Read on… I’ve mentioned before my desire to begin speaking more, and one of the ideas I would like to explore is four shifts we can make:
If you’d like to help/hear me speak on these, consider completing this form. Your feedback will help me on this new stage of my journey. Cheers! Frederick |
